MUSICAL PAINTINGS
Synesthesia is a phenomenon that allows some of us to visualize what we read or hear. This is how Marie-Blanche Bayon creates canvases representing musical themes. She listens to the musical piece in a loop and lets her hand slide on the canvas, thus sketching out her work. It is a form of meditation.

This artist completely subscribes to Marc Chagall's words: “I am unable to see how I draw; it is my hand that sees; my eyes are turning inward"
"Naissance d'une nouvelle planète", "Gigie", "Saturne Balnéaire" and "Bach Home" are compositions of 2 jazz musicians, Nicolas (guitar, synthesizer) and his daughter Tévy (bass guitar, flute, synthesizer), respectively son and little artist's daughter.

It is by letting herself be imbued with the themes improvised by these two musicians that Marie-Blanche Bayon created the paintings which each bear the name of the associated musical work.

The pass of Ba Đội

A pass, a pass, another pass… Praised be the one who sculpted this landscape suspended far from the ground… A green rock covered with a thin mossy mantle… Curving the pine branches a whirlwind forces its way… Soaking the willow leaf the morning dew forms in droplets... wise men, well-born men, no one wants to give up... Weary knees, bruised feet, all still want to climb " (poem by Hồ Xuân Hương )

Nisis Dominus - Acrylic on canvas - 15F (65x54cm)

Nisis Dominus

This canvas was designed by listening in a loop to the sublime Cum Dederit, bewitching, mysterious, taken from Nisi Dominus by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741). It is a real moment of paradise, especially in this sublime interpretation by the famous countertenor Philippe Jaroussky. Watch and let yourself be carried away by the music file attached to this table.

Gigie - Acrylic on canvas - 15F (65x54cm)

GIGIE

Gigie stands up, an enameled porcelain mug in one hand, an electromagnetic wave sensor in the other. Gigie pours the hot coffee into her intended mouth, watching through the window of her suspended loft the advertising cars spinning in the sky. Gigie pays little attention to the higher bitterness rate this morning than usual. His electrogram shows him an average voltage: 24V. It's time to go. Gigie triggers the automatic costume designer and finds herself propelled into the pneumatic elevator. The suit, still warm, is perfectly adjusted to its receiving robot carcass.

Naissance d'une nouvelle planète - Acrylic on canvas - 30F (92x73cm)

Naissance d'une nouvelle planète

Nebulae… dream… A bubble then another, all detaching, one by one, from the original magma. A wave passes. The world, in fusion, contracts and, in an infinite relaxation, stretches. Everything becomes more solid, more palpable. The uneven and sharp line of a mountain cuts through space. Then nothing. It is the absolute vacuum before the birth of a new planet.
